Diversità Opera Arts Company invites talented young musicians and vocal artists to participate in the Diversità Young Artist Competition.

This competition provides young performers with an opportunity to showcase their talent, gain valuable performance experience, and receive recognition for their musical artistry.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

The competition is open to young artists ages 11–17.

Participants may enter as either a vocalist or instrumentalist.

Any musical instrument is welcome.

All participants must perform as a solo artist.

More than one sibling from the same family may participate. Each sibling must submit a separate application, video submission, and $15 entry fee.

Because all participants are minors, a parent or legal guardian must complete the application.


PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

Each participant must submit two solo selections.

  • Both selections must be performed by the applicant.

  • There is no time limit on the selections.

  • Selections should showcase the participant's musical ability, artistry, technique, expression, and individuality.

  • Repertoire must be appropriate for the participant's age.

  • Music containing profanity, explicit language, or other inappropriate content will not be accepted.

  • Accompaniment (background tracks allowed) is permitted when appropriate; however, the applicant must remain the featured performer.

  • Duets, ensembles, group performances, and performances featuring another student as a featured performer are not permitted.

Participants are encouraged to select repertoire that best represents their musical strengths and individuality as an artist.


VIDEO SUBMISSION

Applicants must submit one video containing both competition selections.

The video submission link will be entered directly on the competition application form.

ACCEPTABLE VIDEO LINKS

Applicants may submit a link from:

  • YouTube

  • Google Drive

  • Vimeo

  • Another reliable video-sharing platform that allows Diversità Opera Arts Company and the competition judges to view the submission.

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR VIDEO

Simply copy and paste the video link into the Video Submission field on the application form.

Please do not upload the video file directly to the form.

Before submitting your application, please make sure the video link works and that the viewing permissions allow Diversità Opera Arts Company and the competition judges to access the video.

VIDEO REQUIREMENTS

The submitted video should:

  • Clearly show the participant throughout the performance.

  • Include both competition selections.

  • Represent the participant's current musical ability.

  • Have clear enough audio and video for the judges to evaluate the performance.

  • Be recorded as a continuous performance without editing between selections.

Professional recording equipment is not required. A clear recording made with a phone, tablet, or other device is acceptable.


HOW THE COMPETITION WORKS

STEP 1 — COMPLETE THE APPLICATION

A parent or legal guardian must complete the online application for the participant.

The $15 entry fee must be submitted with the application.

STEP 2 — SUBMIT YOUR VIDEO

The application form includes a field for the video submission link.

Simply copy and paste your video link into the form.

Your video must contain both competition selections.

STEP 3 — PRELIMINARY VIDEO REVIEW

All eligible video submissions will be reviewed by the Diversità Young Artist Competition judging panel.

The judges will evaluate each participant based on their musical ability, performance, artistry, and overall presentation.

STEP 4 — FINALISTS ARE SELECTED

Following the preliminary video review, selected participants will be invited to participate in the Final Competition Performance.

Not every applicant will advance to the final round.

Finalists will be notified using the contact information provided on their application.

STEP 5 — FINAL COMPETITION PERFORMANCE

Finalists will have the opportunity to perform before a live audience and judging panel.

The date and location of the Final Competition Performance will be determined after finalists have been selected and their availability has been reviewed.

Finalists must be available to participate in the final performance.

Additional information regarding the final performance, including the date, location, arrival time, performance order, and other requirements, will be provided to finalists.


JUDGING

Participants may be evaluated on the following:

  • Musicality

  • Technique

  • Tone and sound quality

  • Rhythm and accuracy

  • Musical interpretation

  • Expression

  • Stage presence

  • Overall performance

  • Preparation and presentation

  • Appropriateness of repertoire

Judges' decisions are final.

Winners will receive recognition from Diversità Opera Arts Company.

Finalists will perform in the concert and also receive recognition.

APPLICATION & VIDEO SUBMISSION DEADLINE

NOVEMBER 21, 2026

All applications and required video submissions must be received by 11:59 PM Central Time on November 21, 2026.

Applications or video submissions received after the deadline may not be accepted.

FINAL COMPETITION

The final competition date and location will be determined after finalists have been selected and their availability has been reviewed.

Finalists will receive additional information regarding the final performance.


ENTRY FEE

$15 PER PARTICIPANT

The $15 competition entry fee must be submitted with the application.

Each participating sibling must submit a separate application and pay a separate $15 entry fee.

ALL ENTRY FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.

Submitting an application and paying the entry fee does not guarantee advancement to the final competition.


PARENT/GUARDIAN REQUIREMENTS

Because all participants are minors, a parent or legal guardian must complete the application.

By submitting the application, the parent/guardian confirms that:

  • The information provided on the application is accurate.

  • The participant meets the competition's age requirements.

  • The participant's submitted repertoire is appropriate for their age.

  • The submitted video belongs to the participant.

  • The participant is available to participate in the final competition if selected.

  • The participant will follow all competition rules and requirements.


PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEO RELEASE

Competition participants may be photographed or recorded during competition-related activities and performances.

With parent/guardian permission, Diversità Opera Arts Company may use photographs and video from the competition for promotional, educational, archival, website, social media, and other company-related purposes.


FAMILY PARTICIPATION

We welcome talented young artists from the same family!

Multiple siblings may participate in the competition.

Each participating sibling must submit:

  • A separate application

  • Two solo selections

  • Their own video submission

  • A separate $15 competition entry fee


FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can more than one child from my family participate?

Yes. Multiple siblings may participate. Each sibling must complete a separate application, submit their own video, and pay the $15 entry fee.

Does my child need professional recording equipment?

No. A clear recording made with a phone, tablet, or other device is acceptable.

Where can I upload my child's video?

You may use YouTube, Google Drive, Vimeo, or another reliable video-sharing platform that allows the judges to view the video.

How do I submit the video?

Simply copy and paste the video link into the Video Submission field on the application form.

Can my child use an accompanist?

Yes. Accompaniment is permitted when appropriate, but the applicant must remain the featured performer.

Can my child perform with another student?

No. This is a solo competition. Duets, ensembles, and group performances are not permitted.

Is there a time limit for the selections?

No. There is no time limit on the selections.

Can my child enter both Vocal and Instrumental?

The competition is designed for each participant to enter one category: Vocal or Instrumental.

When will the final competition take place?

The final date and location will be determined after finalists are selected and their availability has been reviewed.

Will every applicant perform in the final?

No. The preliminary video round will be used to select finalists.

Is the entry fee refundable?

No. All entry fees are non-refundable.


IMPORTANT RULES

By submitting an application, the parent/guardian acknowledges that they have read and agree to all competition rules and requirements.

Diversità Opera Arts Company reserves the right to:

  • Determine participant eligibility.

  • Review and evaluate submissions.

  • Select finalists.

  • Disqualify submissions that do not meet competition requirements.

  • Decline submissions containing inappropriate repertoire or content.

  • Make reasonable changes to competition details when necessary.

Judges' decisions are final.
